AIE Student Game Jam (Unofficial)

Let’s Go Camping!

This unofficial game jam was held for students only at the AIE Adelaide Campus in May 2016.

I got the opportunity to work with my fellow students to make a game in a couple of days.

The Team

Artists: Adrianna White, Sean Prochazia, Tom Turner
Designers: Rory Caire-McCaul, Eleanor Browne
Programmers: Reece Howe, Bryan Carney

Our theme was “weakest link in the chain” and our idea was “Let’s Go Camping!

I was responsible for:
Game Mechanics, Resource Management, Scene Management, UI scripting and Random Event Generation.

During the day you send your tribe out to gather resources like food, water, and fire wood. There is also a magic goop resource which could be used to supplement any of your supplies.

When they return in the evening you need to make the hard choice about whether to sacrifice any of the tribe who are not collecting enough resources, or risk a night low on resources.

The aim of the game is to try to survive for as many days as possible. There is a catch; random events can happen at night, like floods, being eaten by wildlife, even being abducted by aliens, or if you are lucky maybe your tribe will grow.
